Bangla youngster Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed his maiden century in international test cricket and carried his side in the second and third sessions of play on Day 1 and the first session of play on Day 2 as the visitors put up dominant display in the first innings of the first test match against Sri Lanka. His 142-run stand with opener Tamim Iqbal set the stage early on, and following the dismissal of Iqbal, Shanto was joined by Mominul Haque and the duo picked apart the Lankan bowlers in a record-breaking 242-run partnership.
