Dhritarashtra was blessed that his wife Gandhari would give birth to 100 babies in her life time. However, it was Dhitarashtra's persistent demand to have 100 babies, but now Gandhari has given birth to the lump of muscle from her foetus. Knowing this Dhitarashta is heartbroken and is not able to accept the falsehood of Lord Shiva's blessing. However, Bhishma Pitamah, after knowing about the grave situation which has prevailed in Hastinapur went on to seek guidance from Maa Ganga.
